Sparta visit China for the City Circle Summit
Strengthening the bond between two great citites!
On the 27th of February, Sparta Digital along with a delegation of Manchester businesses, Universities and the City Council attended the City Circle Summit in our Sister City of Wuhan, China. The delegation was made up of 24 partners and was led by Sir Richard Leese.
During the visit an action plan for 2018 was signed by Mayor Wang Yong, which plans to strengthen the partenrship between the two cities in several areas such as Trade and Investment, Culture, Civic Cooperation, Education and Tourism.
The visit highlighted to Sparta the huge potential for trade and commerce for U.K. companies and if taken wisely and working with the British Council, great things could be achieved. Sparta are an official partner of the U.K.’s largest Smart City, IoT demonstrator project – CityVerve
Whilst in Wuhan Sparta presented on how some of the emerging technology and methods being used on the CityVerve Project could be replicated to benefit smart cities within China. Sparta specialises in mobile app development, smart city IoT solutions, augmented reality and more and have been a constant presence in Manchester’s fast growing technology scene over the last ten years.
The visit gained a substantial amount of media coverage in China with an exclusive interview with Sir Richard Leese being aired live on Wuhan TV foreign language channel – Changjiang Daily. Other media outlets such as Changjiang Commercial Newspaper, China News and Ifeng also reported on the visit.
The visit was ended with an honorary banquet for all the guests where the Wuhan side promised to have a civic and business delegation visit Manchester in late 2018, to promote cooperation.
